Anatolian Canopus 21" Ride

This 21" ride from Anatolian's Canopus series is a powerful ride with plenty of volume, clear articulation, and a construction that sets it apart from most traditional rides.

The Canopus series is easy to recognize by its blue logos and the characteristic unlathed band that runs around both sides of the cymbal. The band sits roughly 4-5 cm from the edge and helps give the cymbal its own distinctive playing feel.

One of the first things you notice is the extra thickness right at the band. That means the cymbal responds differently from a traditional ride. The area closer to the bell is slightly thinner and has a broader, more open sound, while the stick response changes character and becomes noticeably more defined as you move out toward the band.

That gives a big practical advantage. You can play fairly hard and far out on the bow without the cymbal losing definition or getting out of control. At the same time, you still get a good amount of wash around the stick attack, so the sound never becomes a pure "ping".
