Below you’ll find the Canopus models currently in stock at CymbalONE.
As always, each cymbal has been individually selected and recorded on video, so you can hear the exact cymbal you’re buying.
With the Canopus series, Anatolian has created a cymbal line that stands out both visually and in the way it responds when played.
The first thing you notice is the design:
An unlathed ring located about 5–6 cm in from the edge. The rest of the cymbal is lathed as usual, but this particular area has been left raw.
This doesn’t just create a distinctive look – it also affects the sound.
The extra mass in the ring gives the cymbal more stability and a slightly different response than you might expect at first glance.
When you start playing it, you quickly notice how the cymbal reacts in a controlled and precise way, while still maintaining the warmth and complexity you would expect from a handcrafted Turkish cymbal.
The unlathed ring essentially means that there is a little more bronze in the outer area than on a traditionally lathed cymbal.
This results in several interesting characteristics:
This construction makes the Canopus series particularly interesting, because the cymbals can move flexibly between crash and ride without losing their character.
Tonally, the Canopus series sits in a place where definition and character meet.
You typically get:
This makes the series interesting in many musical situations – from more dynamic playing to contexts where the cymbal needs to cut through a mix without sounding aggressive.
One of the most interesting aspects of the Canopus cymbals is how they feel under the stick.
They feel slightly stiffer than the average Anatolian cymbal.
They still open up nicely – but the path to that point follows a slightly different curve.
The result is a cymbal that feels musical and inspiring to play, and one that often reveals more tonal nuances the longer you spend with it.
