This 17” crash from Anatolian’s Dry Series is a light and lively crash with a dark, controlled sound and a slightly dusty character.
The semi-lathed surface on both sides gives the cymbal a drier sound than a traditionally lathed crash. The attack comes through clearly, while the sustain is relatively short, making the cymbal easy to control – even when playing dynamically.
At 1116 grams, the cymbal responds quickly and is easy to open up. At the same time, it is thin enough to feel lively under the stick, without losing the focused character that the Dry Series is known for.
The sound works especially well for soul, funk, jazz and other styles where a drier, more organic expression fits well. The cymbal can also be used as a light ride in more subdued settings, where the controlled surface gives you clear stick definition.
