Anatolian Dry Series 22" Ride

This 22" ride from Anatolian’s Dry Series is a dark, open and quite versatile ride cymbal with a pleasant, rounded sound.

Even though the series is called Dry Series, this particular ride is not bone dry in the traditional sense. The surface is dry and semi-lathed on both sides, with some of the raw material still left in the cymbal. That helps round off the tone and gives it a darker, slightly dusty character.

Sound-wise, however, the cymbal is actually relatively open.

It weighs 2214 grams, which works really well in this size. Some cymbals with this kind of construction can start to run away a little if they are too small or too light. But here, with a 22" ride and a good amount of metal in motion, it holds together nicely.

It has a dark and slightly jazzy character, but with more volume and body than the very thin, dry jazz rides. You still get that slightly fragile, dry and organic sound – just with a bit more weight and beef to it.

The stick definition is also quite nice. This is not a hard, pingy ride, but the attack still speaks clearly enough, and the cymbal articulates better than you might expect from a dark and fairly open ride.

That makes it a really nice all-round ride if you like darker cymbals, but still want something you can use in a wider range of settings. Soul, funk, pop, rock and more open styles – there are plenty of places where this ride will make sense.

Of course, this is not the ride that will cut completely through an extremely loud rock band with huge Marshall stacks everywhere. But if you want a 22" ride with a pleasant, rounded, dark and slightly dusty sound, this is a very nice option.
