Anatolian Emotion 22" Ride (SOLD)

This 22" ride from Anatolian’s Emotion series is a classic Turkish ride with good weight, plenty of tone and really nice, defined stick attack.

The cymbal weighs 2864 grams and has the serial number A04837. So this is not an especially light 22" ride, and you can both hear and feel that. There is plenty of sustain and body in the sound, but also enough weight for the stick attack to come through really nicely.

The profile is fairly classic – perhaps with a little more curvature than some other Anatolian cymbals. This helps focus the sound and gives you a good balance between the actual stick attack and the bed of sound underneath.

The Emotion series is probably one of the most traditionally Turkish sounding series from Anatolian. The cymbals are hand-hammered, made from B20 bronze and fully lathed on both sides. So rather than the raw or dry character found in some of Anatolian’s more unusual series, you get that big, warm and open Turkish cymbal sound.

On this particular cymbal, there is a fairly wide area across the bow where the stick definition is really good. Towards the outer edge the cymbal naturally becomes looser, while the response gets a little softer as you move closer to the bell. But between those areas, there is plenty of room to work with and a nicely defined attack.

And even though there is plenty of tone and sustain underneath the stick, it does not overpower the attack. In my opinion, that makes this a really good all-round ride.

It also has another side to it: if you want to use it as a crash-ride and need some volume and a bit of aggression, it can certainly deliver that as well. After all, it is a 22" cymbal weighing 2864 grams – so there is plenty of sound available.

All in all, a full and versatile 22" ride with good stick definition, plenty of warm tone and the ability to open up nicely when you need more volume.
