Anatolian Ultimate 10" MicroFX Splash

This 10” MicroFX Splash from Anatolian’s Ultimate series is an effect cymbal with plenty of attack, a very short sustain and a little more volume than many other perforated splash cymbals.

The cymbal weighs 236 grams and carries the serial number A50183.

The MicroFX model is recognised by its small cut-out holes, giving it a dry and fast response. However, while some perforated splash cymbals can sound extremely airy and almost whisper-like, the Ultimate MicroFX offers a little more body and projection.

If you like the idea of a perforated splash but find some of the more extreme designs lacking in volume, this is a great alternative. The pitch sits slightly higher, the attack is more defined, and it cuts through the mix better, while still delivering the short, dry decay you would expect from this type of cymbal.

The attack is immediate and very clear. Even though the cymbal is extremely light, it still feels surprisingly solid under the stick. Muting it by hand almost stops the sound instantly, simply because there is so little material left in the cymbal.

To me, it sits somewhere between a traditional splash and a small bell. It retains the airy, dry qualities of an effect cymbal, but adds a little more focus and volume than you would normally expect.

A really interesting choice if you are looking for a fast effect cymbal that cuts through clearly while keeping the overall sound clean.
